An artisanal chair in solid exotic wood, likely mid-to-late 20th century, of unknown origin. The back is a tall rectangular frame carrying a large circular disc pierced with two round openings; the seat is a thick circular disc; the base resolves into two horseshoe arches connected by a floor stretcher. Assembly throughout is by wooden dowels. Note: A previous owner carried out repairs to the piece: wood filler to the front, and metal hardware applied to the underside of the seat (not visible when the chair is in its normal upright position) - as pictured. Dimensions: H110 × W50 × D48 cm (H 43.3" × W 19.7" × D 18.9") — seat H 48 cm (18.9"). A totemic object that holds a room on its own - sculptural in presence, it functions equally well as an occasional chair for actual use.
