An impressively large decorative stoneware pitcher by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand, Sweden, 1950s. Standing at 44 cm (17.3") tall, the piece has a neoclassical amphora-inspired form with a graceful curved handle, finished in a rich, dark aubergine glaze with subtle shades of brown. A true centerpiece, striking enough to stand alone in any room. The piece is signed to the base with Nylund's monogram "GN," the Rörstrand logo, and its model name. Gunnar Nylund was a highly influential Swedish ceramic designer, renowned for his innovative and diverse work at Rörstrand.
