EXCLUSIVE CURATION

Throughout her travels in Italy in the 1970s, photographer Francesca Woodman collected books from local shops and flea markets which became the basis of her remarkable series of artist’s books. She later repurposed each giving intriguing backgrounds onto which she attached her prints, and written annotations.

These works portray a sophisticated relationship to narrative and pattern while offering a perspective of Woodman’s engagement with the book form. The Artist’s Books comprises for the very first time every page of all eight of Francesca Woodman’s distinct artist’s books in one comprehensive volume.

About Shipping & Return Details
Maison Plage is an ode to the meeting of unlikely things—images, artefacts, artworks, ideas—and to the transportive possibilities revealed when they’re collaged. (Its name translates, quite literally, to house and beach, suggesting both French grandeur and the American coast.) Since its founding in 2019 by Kelly Croteau, it’s become a destination for those seeking rare, out of print, and new books, especially those relating to fashion, art, design and photography—from the avant-garde to the natural world. Each book is hand-selected by Croteau, who travels widely to source them.
