Sculptural Set of Six Dining Chairs by Axel Enthoven for Rohé, 1980s

Discover this lovely set of six dining chairs designed by Axel Enthoven for Rohé Design, produced in the 1980s. These chairs stand out through their innovative bentwood construction, each formed from just four cylindrical wooden elements. Through precise steam-bending, the wood flows seamlessly into the legs, frame, arms, and backrest—creating a continuous, sculptural silhouette that feels both architectural and fluid. The bold, rounded lines give the chairs a strong visual identity, while maintaining an elegant lightness. The design balances geometric clarity with soft curves, a hallmark of Enthoven’s approach to modern Dutch design. The seats have been recently reupholstered in a natural linen fabric, adding warmth and texture to the deep-toned wooden frames. This subtle contrast enhances their timeless appeal and makes them easy to integrate into both contemporary and more classic interiors. Comfortable, distinctive, and beautifully crafted, this set is not only functional but also highly decorative—perfect around a dining table or as statement pieces within a space. A rare and refined example of 1980s European design, where craftsmanship and innovation meet in a truly unique form. The listed price is for the set of six pieces.
