Pierre Jeanneret - Authentic PJ-TAT-08-B
Teak Library Table circa 1955–56 by Pierre Jeanneret - model PJ-TAT-08-B This model was produced in several variants and dimensions for Chandigarh’s public institutions. The detachable teak top rests on two angular “V”-shaped legs, characteristic of Jeanneret’s architectural simplicity. Constructed in solid and veneered teak, this PJ-TAT-08-B variant integrates a lighting system along the tabletop, providing direct illumination for readers. This particular table was produced for the Punjab Engineering College (P.E.C.), Chandigarh, one of the earliest technical institutions established in the new capital designed by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. Around 1955, the P.E.C. Department played a key role in the technical infrastructure supporting the construction of Chandigarh.
Many of its engineers and students contributed to civil and structural projects for the new city designed by Le Corbusier and his team, closely collaborating with the Engineering Department of the Chandigarh Administration.
