One-of-a-kind piece

A small, modernist lidded vessel in polished pewter, its base and lid each edged in brass. Designed by Estrid Ericson, one of the most influential figures in Swedish design history, for her own company, Svenskt Tenn. Impressed with the maker's marks and date stamp 'D9', for 1955. Estrid Ericson (1894–1981) founded Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm in 1924, helping to revive pewter as a celebrated material in Swedish design. By the early 1930s, Svenskt Tenn had gained international acclaim, and Ericson’s collaboration with architect Josef Frank, established the firm as a defining force in Swedish Modern. Svenskt Tenn remains one of Sweden’s most celebrated design houses today.
