Pair of Abstract Figures by Robert Clatworthy RA (1928 - 2015), 1970

Price$1,596.00
One-of-a-kind piece
A pair of abstract sculptures by British artist Robert Clatworthy RA (1928–2015), made from cellulose on fibreglass with wooden supports. Their elongated, irregular forms demonstrate Clatworthy’s interest in mass, surface and silhouette, occupying an ambiguous territory between the organic and the abstract. The works are illustrated in the artist’s catalogue raisonné and were gifted directly by Clatworthy to the previous owner’s partner. Clatworthy was a significant figure in post-war British sculpture. He studied under Bernard Meadows, worked as an assistant to Henry Moore and taught alongside a generation that included Anthony Caro, Elisabeth Frink and Eduardo Paolozzi. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1973, and his work is represented in collections including Tate and the V&A. Dimensions: Height: 110 cm Width: 33 cm Depth: 16 cm
