Monumental Delatte Nancy Trumpet Vase, France, c. 1930s

A large and impressive work by the Nancy maître verrier André Delatte, circa 1925–1930. Standing 39cm tall and weighing a formidable 4.5kg, this is an exceptional example of Delatte’s Art Deco period—a piece whose scale and physical presence command immediate attention. The vessel is executed in a sophisticated, smoky olive-tinted glass. It features a stunning natural gradient, shifting from airy translucency in the body to a near-opaque darkness at the foot—an effect produced entirely by the varying thickness of a single monochromatic glass batch. The form is purely architectural: a dramatic flared trumpet, its surface animated by subtle vertical fluting, rising from a sharp geometric hexagonal foot.
