In the 1960s, Dutch design explored a warm modernism, where the rigor of the lines is balanced by the quality of the materials. This lounge chair is a particularly apt illustration of this. Attributed to Gijs van der Sluis , it combines a black-stained wooden frame with solid wood armrests in warmer, subtly satiny tones. The design is straightforward: straight legs, strong horizontal lines, and low, inviting proportions. The generously padded seat and back are upholstered in a textured gray fabric that underscores the overall simplicity. The condition is very satisfactory. The fabric holds its shape well, with slight signs of wear consistent with its age.
