In the 1960s, brass became a favored material for Italian decorative objects, often drawing on natural forms. The scallop shell, a classic motif, was reinterpreted for occasional furnishings and everyday objects. Large solid brass catchall, circa 1960, in the form of a scallop shell. Scalloped edges with radiating ribbing creating a pronounced relief across the interior surface. Italian manufacture.
Good overall condition. Aged patina throughout, with localized oxidation marks consistent with the age of the brass. No deformation, sturdy structure. Dimensions: length 34 cm, width 27.5 cm, height 5 cm. Place on a console, desk or coffee table to hold keys, mail or small objects.
