Rare Italian handcrafted wooden serving tray by Manzoni Pietro, Bergamo, dating from the 1960s. Founded in Bergamo in 1955, Manzoni Pietro specialised in handcrafted wooden objects for the home. This unusually architectural example is composed of individually assembled geometric elements in vivid red, green, yellow, orange and black. Its striking geometry and bold colour blocking anticipate the visual language later associated with Italian Radical and Postmodern design, giving the piece a remarkably contemporary presence despite its earlier date. Crafted from stained wood and bearing the characteristic Manzoni mark to the underside. A rare and highly decorative piece of mid-century Italian craftsmanship.
