Coffee table Iraty Grégoire de Lafforest The coffee table, on the other hand, was conceived as a sculptural piece that breaks with the sobriety of the other pieces and brings a "twist" to the whole through its format and materiality. This form was inspired by the neighboring Auteuil greenhouses of my place of residence. Inspired by the work of Sol Lewitt, the structure accentuates the rigorous, repetitive, and austere aspect in contrast with the brightness and richness of form of the glass parts. ‍ For the coffee table, I wanted to work with stained glass as it represents the tradition of French craftsmanship found in these emblematic places of French history. Working with this craftsmanship horizontally was also an interesting challenge to bring a form of originality and modernity to this know-how. With the help of Mélanie, the stained glass artist, we designed a complex structure based on clear structured glass onto which St Just glasses are applied using the Tiffany technique. We opted for cast glasses with a wide variety of thickness, texture, and color in shades of green to evoke late summer foliage. These foliage elements are distributed over 3 heights to create a game of juxtaposition and transparency between the different glasses. ‍ Dimensions : L.173 x l.116 x H.40 cm Under top : H.18 cm – Middle top : H.28 cm Limited Edition 9 pièces Composition : Mix of St Just glass assembled in stained glass using the Tiffany technique Patinated steel structure ‍
