A quiet composition of hand-cast plaster cubes, Gesso Painting No. 5 brings together a softly textured, natural-toned relief with a warm orange centre. The individual cubes create a gently undulating surface, allowing light and shadow to move across the work and revealing its sculptural depth. The restrained geometry is softened by the handmade character of each element. Slight variations in texture, colour and height give the composition a sense of warmth and tactility, while the deep black frame creates a crisp architectural edge. Each cube is individually cast, sun-dried and refined by hand in the artist’s Rio de Janeiro studio, in a process that unfolds over several weeks. Signed and dated on the front and reverse, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Dimensions: H42 × W42 × D4 cm (H16.5 × W16.5 × D1.6 in).
