French Art Deco Engine-Turned Guilloché Silver-Plated Bonbonnière - Hallmarked.

One-of-a-kind piece
  • EXCLUSIVE WORK
A refined French Art Deco bonbonnière or lidded vanity box, dating from the interwar period. Its broad, low-profile form is decorated with a finely worked concentric engine-turned pattern, radiating outward from a plain central cartouche. The precise guilloché surface catches the light with a subtle shifting shimmer, contrasting beautifully with the smooth, highly polished outer border. The removable lid opens to reveal a reflective interior, reinforcing the piece’s clean, architectural character. Measuring 14 cm in diameter, the box has a substantial presence while retaining the restraint and geometric precision associated with French Art Deco metalwork. Originally intended for sweets or small personal objects, it works equally well as a jewellery box, vanity piece or sculptural desk accessory. The piece bears two hallmarks: one reading France and a second partially legible maker’s or metal-quality mark. The precise silver standard has therefore not been definitively identified. It remains in good vintage condition, with light surface wear and fine scratches consistent with age and use.
