Deschamps Frères French Art Deco Silver-Plated Champagne Bucket, c. 1930s
The piece is distinguished by its faceted body, flared rim and sculptural ring handles. Its clean architectural form is shaped by vertical planes, creating a subtle play of reflection across the polished silver-plated surface. The interior has a softly aged tone, contrasting beautifully with the brighter exterior. Founded in Paris in 1923, Deschamps Frères was a French silver-plated tableware maker active during the Art Deco period. This piece reflects the refined, architectural style associated with French entertaining objects of the era. It works beautifully for champagne or wine, but also as a decorative object, vase or styling piece for a dining table, bar cart or console.
Marked Deschamps Frères with “18” silvering mark. Nearly a century old, the bucket still presents beautifully. Its softened details and gentle traces of use give the piece its quiet romance — the evidence of a French Art Deco object that has lived, been used and gathered around the table. Condition In good vintage condition overall, with a beautifully preserved exterior and strong decorative presence. Fine surface scratches and signs of use are present, with the most visible age-related wear found to the interior and base. The underside shows minor areas of softened plating, where the warmer brass beneath is visible. À votre santé.
