BO Coffee Table, 5500 Years Old Black Oak
Crafted from ancient 5.550 years old Bog Oak, this table embodies the depth and character of timber preserved underground for thousands of years. The top is formed from two wide planks with gently waney edges, the meeting line and natural contours revealing deep, dark tones and a grain that reads like a landscape. Sculpted legs rise as an uninterrupted extension of the central board, recalling the upright strength of a tree and suggesting two figures in quiet dialogue as they support the surface with poised balance. Minimal and timeless in its proportions, the design fuses rustic materiality with contemporary clarity, celebrating the wood’s singular character while remaining composed and refined.
The details draw on motifs developed for the Jubilee Table (2022), created in 2022 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, linking this piece to a lineage of considered craft and ceremonial presence, and making it as much a keeper of stories as a functional centrepiece for the home.
