Art Deco box in an octagonal form, veneered in richly figured wood with a herringbone pattern. The lid is crowned with a charming pewter finial in the form of a stylized dolphin, typical of the Swedish Art Deco era. Originally intended for tobacco, the jar works equally well today as a decorative box or a home for small treasures. Signed and dated "N. 1931", and though the maker remains unidentified, the quality of the veneer work and pewter casting reveals a skilled and experienced hand.
