Art Deco Smoked Glass Chevron Vase, Daum Nancy, c. 1930s
The piece is defined by its rounded body, softly flared rim and bold geometric chevron band wrapping around the centre. Formed in translucent smoked amber glass, the surface has a textured, almost granité finish that catches the light beautifully, contrasting with the smoother raised relief of the zig-zag motif.
The vase corresponds to documented signed Daum Nancy examples of the same model, sharing the same smoked textured glass, rounded body, flared rim, geometric chevron relief band and proportions. On comparable examples, the Daum Nancy France signature is very faintly placed to the base. On this piece, the base shows surface wear, making the original mark difficult to read. In excellent vintage condition overall. The glass body presents beautifully, with no chips or cracks observed. The base shows light surface wear from age and handling, consistent with the area where the signature would have originally appeared.
