Strandlinje Arne Olsson
The artwork Strandlinje (Shoreline), created by Swedish artist and print maker Arne Olsson (1918-2004), features a minimal abstract landscape. The serene shades of grey depict a misty and moody Scandinavian shoreline, interrupted by delicate reeds. Born in Västernorrland, Olsson studied at Otte Sköld's painting school in Stockholm and travelled to Norway, France, Portugal, and Morocco during his studies. Some of his notable works include a mural in Örnsköldsvik, a grid work for Sundsvallsbanken in Sollefteå, and the sculpture 'New York', New York, which was gifted to the UN Headquarters by King Carl XVI Gustaf in 1991. This piece, painted in oil on canvas and framed in original pine wood, bears the artist's monogram and signature, but the exact date of creation is unknown.
