Product Information

Overview

A stylish Swedish Modern floor lamp by interior architect, designer and sculptor Harald Notini (1879 - 1959) for Arvid Böhlmarks Lamp Factory. An historical piece of Swedish design from 1940s that still feels relevant today. Böhlmarks was the leading Scandinavian maker of lighting and luminaires.

Founded in 1872 by Daniel Arvid Böhlmark it was during the 1920s-1950s they became significant within the eponymous Swedish design movement also known as the golden age of design and craftsmanship. Harald Elof Notini (1879-1959) was hired as artistic director in 1916 leading the company to the top of their game with his innovative and modern designs. Son of the sculptor Axel Notini, Harald originally trained as a sculptor and interior architect at what is today called Konstfäck (Stockholms Art Industrial School). His range of designs spanned from the Swedish Grace period of the 1920s to the Swedish Modernism of the 1940s-1950s. He worked for Böhlmarks until he was 75, a year before his passing. Notini is represented at the National museum, Stockholm.
