Pierre Chareau - Curule / Model No. MT 1015 Stool
Curule or Model No. MT 1015 Stool attributed to the work of Pierre Chareau - Art Deco piece - circa mid-20th century.
Stool with a slightly curved seat in sheet metal. The legs are full and each end in two quadrangular feet. The seat is set in two curvilinear bands with slightly curved upper profiles. This particular piece is made from palisander (also known as rosewood) in combination with a sleek sheet metal seat. What makes this stool particularly interesting is its rarity; this specific combination isn't documented, making it a unique piece. This could be a test or prototype. Interestingly, there is an example of a desk (Desk 01) by Chareau, often paired with the Curule Stool. This desk, made from wood with a metal top, suggests that the Curule Stool might have been designed to complement it.
