Details

English artist, Lara Voce, creates still life paintings which have an abstract quality. She reduces everyday objects to their simplest forms, playing with texture by adding paint and building layers. Her pieces are marked by an uncommon luminosity. This is not achieved without effort; her works are formed by a meticulous series of painting, layering, sanding, and repainting. Often, the final product contains remnants of earlier compositions and memories. Lara works intuitively, sketching possible designs multiple times before selecting one and then executing it using acrylic paint for its speed. Through these multiple layers, sanding, and observation, the painting eventually comes to life.
