About Shipping & Return Details
Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Nata Janberidze and Keti Toloraia began their collaboration at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, where they studied Interior Design together from 1997 to 2003. In 2007, right after graduation, they founded the first female-led studio in Tbilisi, Georgia, focusing on collectible objects and architectural design. Amidst Georgia's architectural changes post-independence, Janberidze and Toloraia's creativity evolved. Initially drawing from Western European design, they later delved into their cultural roots for inspiration, blending ancient Georgian, Medieval, and late Soviet design elements into a contemporary style. Their work, like the ongoing Street Series and past collections, reflects this fusion of old and new, showcased through handcrafted pieces using natural materials. Rooms Studio's practice emphasises sculptural qualities, evident in projects like the Gheama Restaurant and the Sacral Geometry collection. Their functional objects stand out for their monumental presence and spatial relationship with architecture, showcasing the studio's unique approach.
