'Rhythm Wood' Artwork

After creating her Rhythm artworks using cotton rag paper, Marike began experimenting with other materials that reflect her passion for haptic textures. The natural character of wood veneer creates a beautiful color gradient in this line of work. For example, a single strip of cherry or walnut veneer can contain so many color variations that each piece develops its own unique character. The repetition of elements makes the work satisfying to look at. Unpretentious. A sense of stillness starts to settle.
