'Skep' Pendant Light
The Skep pendant draws inspiration from the humble woven skep beehive, once used by peasants in ancient times to house their bees. Just as no two bees ever built the same hive, each Skep light is unique, shaped by hand-bent steel. The Momigami paper, stretched across the frame, glows of a life lived close to nature.
The bark of ancient oaks, gathered only from trees that have fallen naturally, is soaked and boiled to release a dark, tannin-rich dye. Used to dye this paper with a warm, earthy tan, like the memory of the tree held in its fibers. Revered in folklore, the oak symbolized strength, wisdom, and endurance.
Each lamp is handmade, with no two being exactly alike. Subtle variations in symmetry and form are part of its unique character.
