Livraison organisée avec notre équipe

An early-to-mid 20th-century French four-panel folding screen upholstered in an Aubusson-style tapestry. Depicts a classic courtly 18th-century scene with figures, hounds and a chateau landscape, woven in a muted palette. Lower portion finished in a clean, textured neutral hessian. Reverse upholstered in pink moiré. Good sturdy condition with gentle fading consistent with age, picture three highlights the main area of wear.

FAQ

Is this a genuine antique Aubusson tapestry or an Aubusson-style weave, and is any documentation of provenance or age available?

This is an Aubusson-style weave rather than an original Aubusson tapestry.

Beyond the fading shown in picture three, are there any tears, holes, stains, or odors in the tapestry, hessian, or pink moiré backing?

There is one area of fraying at the bottom of the tapestry, as shown in the photograph. It is stable and does not detract from the overall appearance.

What is the condition of the hinges and wooden frame — are all four panels structurally sound and do the hinges fold smoothly in both directions?

The hinges and wooden frame are in good condition, with only minor wear. All four panels remain structurally sound and fold smoothly.

Has the screen undergone any restoration, reupholstering, or repairs?

Yes, the screen has undergone some restoration.

Does the screen stand stably on its own when partially folded, suitable for use as a room divider?

Yes, the screen stands stably on its own when partially folded, making it well suited for use as a room divider.

What are the recommended care and maintenance instructions for the tapestry and moiré fabrics?

Simply dust regularly and vacuum gently to maintain the tapestry and moiré fabrics.
