Drawing on Poland’s rich weaving traditions, we seek contemporary and emerging artistic forms. We design new patterns, while also referring to works by prominent Polish modernist artists. In addition to new designs, Splot releases re-editions of historical textiles from the last century, lending a contemporary dimension to Poland’s artistic craft heritage. Splot’s kilims are handcrafted in collaboration with two weaving centers that boast a unique heritage. The tradition of weaving in Bobowa, located near Kraków, dates back over 70 years. We craft our contemporary, expressive kilims with a dense, refined texture, woven on a linen warp. The wool we use is hand-spun, and its soft bouclé texture gives the kilims a subtle irregularity and depth, building their organic, unique character.
