What are the recommended care and maintenance instructions for the virgin wool upholstery, particularly for stain and spill handling?

The Lana Bench is upholstered in hand-carded, hand-knotted virgin wool from Momostenango, Guatemala. As a handcrafted natural fiber, the upholstery is delicate and benefits from gentle care. A hydrophobic nano-polymer coating helps repel liquids, dust, and everyday soiling. For routine maintenance, gently remove dust with a soft feather duster or a clean, dry cloth. The piece may also be vacuumed using a non-brush upholstery nozzle on the lowest suction setting, held approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) away from the wool pile — never vacuum the wool directly. Avoid hard brushes, detergents, solvents, or liquid cleaning products, as these may cause the fibers to mat and permanently alter their texture. In the event of a spill, the protective coating will temporarily repel and encapsulate the moisture; immediately place a dry paper towel or absorbent cloth over the area and allow it to absorb the liquid naturally, without rubbing or scrubbing. As each piece is handcrafted, a few natural fibers may occasionally remain in the wool. These can be gently removed by hand or with tweezers, and carefully trimmed with small scissors if needed.
