Hélice, SN9 Table attrb Pierre Chareau, c.1930
Iron Hélice, SN9 side table attributed to Pierre Chareau, circa 1930. Designed in 1929, the table exemplifies the "fan" principle that Pierre Chareau frequently employed in his work to divide spaces or create adaptable furniture, as seen in his MB106 nesting tables and MC769 folding garden chair. Featuring three metal plate tops— two of which swivel around a central tube—the table evokes the motion of a fan in both form and function. This dynamic design inspired the name hélice (French for “propeller”), used by Chareau and his metalsmith in their order forms. This particular table bears all the hallmarks of the early, limited 1930s productions and not the later reissues and reproductions with design deviations. Condition: Structurally sound with superficial oxidation to the surface.
