A sculptural French side table or stool in solid oak, dating from the 1930s–1940s, distinguished by its strikingly simple yet substantial construction. The circular top rests on four broad, slightly splayed legs, creating a robust architectural silhouette that highlights the honesty of its materials and craftsmanship. The warm, timeworn oak displays a richly textured surface, with natural grain, patina and signs of age that enhance its understated character. An elongated opening in the top adds a discreet functional detail, while the bold proportions and geometric construction give the piece a distinctly primitive, almost vernacular quality. Balancing rustic authenticity with sculptural simplicity, this versatile piece can be used as a stool or occasional side table, bringing warmth and material presence to both contemporary and traditional interiors.
