Dongji 003, an oil painting in the Dansaekhwa tradition, its surface built from a repeated triangular pattern, rows of peaks echoing mountain ridgelines across a rust-toned field evoking patjuk, the red bean porridge traditionally eaten on the winter solstice. Dongji is the longest night of the year, the point where darkness turns and light begins its slow return.
Part of the artist's Introverted Resistance (내향적 저항) positioning. The mountain motif multiplies across the surface, accumulating into a single still field.
Oil on canvas, walnut-frame.
