A beautifully balanced pair of French pewter vanity pots, dating from the Art Deco period. Each cylindrical form is defined by crisp horizontal ribbing, giving the pair a restrained architectural rhythm. The tiered lids are finished with clear glass orb finials, creating a subtle contrast between the soft, muted surface of the pewter and the clarity of the glass. The two pots share the same diameter but differ in height, allowing them to sit together as a cohesive sculptural pair. Originally intended for cosmetics or small personal objects, they remain equally suited to jewellery, keepsakes or everyday objects. Both pieces are stamped Étain Fin 95%, confirming high-grade French pewter, together with a shield-shaped maker’s mark bearing the initials J D and a small winged figure. The maker has not yet been definitively identified. The pair remains in good vintage condition, with surface marks, fine scratches and gentle patination consistent with age and use.
