A sculptural candleholder inspired by the geometric studies of Apollonius of Perga, an ancient Greek mathematician and astronomer, who introduced the concepts of the ellipse and eccentricity.
Composed of two independent elements, the candleholder is assembled through a concealed magnetic connection. A curved sheet is drawn toward the opposing linear module, where a hidden magnet creates a precise point of attraction. The two parts meet only through proximity, held together in a state of balance.
Designed by architect Anoe Melliou, handcrafted in Berlin. The curved module is crafted from a ferritic stainless steel sheet with a hand-polished finish, while the counterpart houses a concealed high-performance magnet. Paired with ⌀ 5 mm taper candles.

To minimise fingerprints, handle the polished stainless steel surface with gloves whenever possible. Minimal assembly is required. Thanks to the two-part magnetic design, you simply position and align the modules yourself, and the concealed magnets guide them into place.

The concealed magnetic connection provides a secure, stable attachment during normal use with a lit taper candle. As the curved module approaches the base, the embedded magnets create a precise, self-aligning connection that resists unintended movement under the weight of a standard taper candle. For best results, place the piece on a stable, level surface and avoid lateral impact or excessive force. Under normal indoor conditions, there is no expected risk of the curved module shifting or detaching during use. As with any candleholder, we recommend avoiding contact while the candle is burning and keeping the assembly undisturbed during operation.
