The Taes collection draws inspiration from the majestic sloping-sided architectural platforms, historically used for religious, ceremonial and defensive purposes. In stacked form, the platforms raise monuments such as pyramids and temples. Single platforms were used as foundations of buildings and defensive structures. The sculptural bowl is a contemporary interpretation of the graphic and functional elements of these sloping-sided platforms.
The object is designed by Aad Bos and sculpted by artisans in the vicinity of Amsterdam out of dense limestone with fossilized inclusions, sourced from the Jura region in Germany. The bowl is usable in 2 ways, either with the larger or the smaller surface facing the bottom. Protection pads are provided. The dimensions are 37,5 x 35 x 6 cm.
