Italian Verdigris Patinated Bronze Ashtray, 1940s

Italian bronze foundry work of the 1930s–40s regularly produced desk accessories and table objects in cast bronze, often finished with a chemical patina to develop depth and contrast. This circular ashtray follows that tradition: heavy cast bronze, low domed profile, four cigarette rests with polished brass edges that contrast sharply with the verdigris-patinated interior and exterior. The underside shows the characteristic rounded form of single-mold casting, no visible seam. The patina is deep, uneven, and entirely stable — untouched. Maker and designer unidentified. Italian production, circa 1940. Condition: very good. Patina intact and consistent throughout. No chips, cracks, or restoration. Dimensions: H 3 cm × Diameter 12 cm.
