Italian Silver-Plated Ribbed Champagne Bucket, c. 1970s
A sculptural Italian silver-plated champagne bucket or wine cooler by De Giovanni Milano, circa 1970s. The piece is distinguished by its deeply ribbed body, flared rim and elegant side handles. The vertical fluting curves around the form, creating a beautiful play of reflection across the polished silver-plated surface, while the raised ribbed foot gives the bucket a balanced architectural presence. The handles are delicately shaped, adding a decorative flourish without overwhelming the form.
The interior has developed a warm aged tone, contrasting beautifully with the brighter exterior and giving the piece depth and character. With its shell-like rhythm and refined proportions, the bucket sits beautifully between functional barware and decorative object. It works equally well for champagne or wine, or as a sculptural vessel for flowers, branches or table styling. Labelled “ De Giovanni” to the underside. In good vintage condition overall, with light surface wear, fine scratches and gentle signs of age consistent with use. The piece has been lightly polished and treated with silver care, while retaining a soft patina within the ribbed detailing to preserve depth and emphasise the sculptural movement of the design.
