Inside Paris: Discovering the Period Interiors of Paris by Joe Friedman, 1989 Paperback, 128 p., English, 27*29 cm. Inside Paris documents more than 100 historic interiors across the city, photographed by Jérôme Darblay. The book covers private houses and apartments, shops, cafés and restaurants, hotels, theatres, cinemas, museums, embassies, libraries, banks, schools and public buildings. Among its best-known interiors are Le Corbusier’s Villa La Roche, the grand staircase of the Paris Opéra, the Turkish boudoir at Hôtel de Beauharnais, the gilded gallery of Hôtel de Toulouse and the Ranelagh Cinema. It also includes less obvious places such as old boulangeries, Belle Époque brasseries and small traditional shops. Jérôme Darblay’s photographs record the architecture, furniture and original decorative details of each space, showing different periods and styles of Parisian interiors in one book.
