One-of-a-kind piece

A charming Art Deco bronze dish in the form of a fluted, shell-like tray, centered by a sculpted nude female figure, a 'Baigneuse', holding a long towel in dark-patinated bronze. The piece pairs sculptural elegance with function, likely intended as a trinket tray. Designed by Arvid Knöppel for the Otto Meyer foundry, Sweden, 1920s–30s. Knöppel (1892–1970) trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, and later in Munich and Italy. Best remembered as one of Sweden's foremost animal sculptors, he also produced figurative works, portrait busts, and church decorations. His work is held in numerous museums, including the Nationalmuseum and Moderna Museet in Stockholm, among others. Measurements: Height: 14 cm (5.5") Diameter: 17.5 cm (6.9")
