One-of-a-kind piece

A small, whimsical Art Deco brass sculpture depicting a stylized rider on horseback, rendered as a flat silhouette with fine linear detailing. Unmarked, attributed to Karl Hagenauer for Werkstätte Hagenauer Wien, Austria, 1930s. Karl Hagenauer (1898–1956) was an Austrian designer, trained under Josef Hoffmann and created pieces for the Wiener Werkstätte before joining his family's Viennese workshop in 1919, becoming its principal designer and developing its signature Art Deco brass style. His work was shown at the 1925 Paris "Exposition des Arts Décoratifs" and is held today in major museum collections, including MoMA.
