Burl forms only when an olive tree develops unusual growths, often at the base or within its root system. Rather than being harvested from healthy, living trees, olive burl is typically sourced when old or damaged trees are removed, or when a tree has naturally reached the end of its productive life. This makes it a sustainable material, giving new purpose to wood that would otherwise remain unused.
Handmade by artisans in Southern Italy, the Roman Side Table combines this characterful material with a balanced silhouette a circular top and base joined by elegantly curved supports. Each piece is made to order, highlighting the individuality of the wood and ensuring no two tables are alike.
