Flinders-based weaver Emma Shepherd combines traditional craft with an artistic connection to her environment. Drawing from yarns sourced worldwide, she explores the deep history of fiber and weaving as one of humanity's earliest technologies. Inspired by Bauhaus textiles, Shepherd integrates natural tones and textures reflective of her hometown—green foliage, dark tree trunks, sandy neutrals, and rugged rock. Using materials like pine needles, horsehair, and bark from her surroundings, she creates works shaped by nature’s influence in a deliberate and organic way.
