Rare vintage art book 'The Painter and Photograph' by Van Deren Coke, published in 1964. A seminal academic publication exploring the relationship between painting and photography, examining how photographers have influenced painters and vice versa throughout art history. A key reference work for collectors of mid-century art literature. Softcover This book was produced for exhibition and examines the use of photography in the work of painters. Produced by Van Deren Coke, Director of The Art Gallery at the University of New Mexico, the exhibition toured through various American Universities and Museums during 1964-1965. Condition Good condition with yellowing to cover. The interior is clean with the exception the binding is starting to detach from the cover on the top. It is very minimal. Dimensions (approx) 7.5" x 10" x 0.25"
