The Dalma is a Calacatta Viola marble and oak dining table, a round table scaled for intimate gatherings, the stone leading and a solid oak base carrying it. Its presence is composed rather than imposing.
Calacatta Viola is an Italian marble from the Carrara region of Tuscany, once prized as Breccia Medicea, the marble of the Medici, its cool white ground crossed by violet, burgundy, and plum veining. Below the stone, solid oak in a honey tone warms to the marble above so the marble and oak settle into one considered pairing. Each top is cut from its own block, so no two of these marble and oak dining tables are quite alike.
The oak does the work of holding the stone up. Two solid oak boards interlock at right angles into a cross-leg base, one passing cleanly through the other, the join shown rather than concealed. Stone meets wood with nothing worked in between.
Composed and round, the marble and oak dining table anchors a dining room without dominating it, at home in the kind of considered interior it was made for. The Dalma is an Italian dining table made to order in Cantù, in Lombardy's long-established furniture district, drawn from a curated material palette of full-slab stone, solid timber, and premium Italian glass.
