Murano Glass Vase, DLG Arnolfio di Cambio, 1960s
In 1960s Italy, the interplay between glass and metal became a true testing ground. This purple Murano glass vase, reminiscent of Arnolfo di Cambio's work, perfectly illustrates this quest for balance between formal purity and sophisticated materials. The blown glass cylinder, in a delicately nuanced shade of violet, rests within a sculptural pewter structure. The cut and curved frame partially encloses the glass, creating a subtle interplay of solids and voids that reveal the colored material like a luminous heart.
The overall effect evokes Italian modernist design, where geometric rigor and the sensuality of materials coexist. Very good overall condition. The glass is intact, without chips or cracks. The pewter has a natural patina and some slight signs of wear consistent with its age, which enhance its authenticity. It measures 27.5 cm in height and 8.5 cm in width, with slender and elegant proportions. A refined piece, ideal as a soliflore or simply placed alone, like a small domestic sculpture.
