It does not matter - Painting in Canvas and Acrylic

IT DOES NOT MATTER 160 × 110 cm Acrylic, dry pastel and oil pastel on canvas This painting is about layers and the way they meet, cover, interrupt and change each other. I was interested in creating a surface where different forms, colours and lines appear at the same time, without one clear beginning or ending. While making this work, I kept thinking about how we look at a painting. Sometimes we try to understand what comes first, what is more important, or what should be seen as the main subject. But for me, in this piece, it does not really matter. The work is more about the whole feeling, the tension between the layers, and the freedom for each person to notice something different. Some parts are very strong and direct, while others almost disappear underneath. I like this movement between control and accident, between what is visible and what stays hidden. The colours and marks overlap, creating a kind of visual noise, but also a rhythm. Emotion is always important in my work, and here I wanted to explore the feeling of not needing one fixed answer. The painting can be read in many ways, and I like that. It does not matter who sees what first, or how someone interprets it. The work exists through all of these layers together.
