The Clara Collection marks Akua Objects’ third fine table art series. The collection takes its name from Annika’s younger sister, Clara - her dearest lodestar. Clara embodies quiet strength and timeless femininity; she is a true femme fatale who adores lace, the rhythm of horseback rides, and, above all, the melancholy beauty of autumn. Each glass draws inspiration from mid-century lacework, crafted with filigrana canes that capture the delicate silhouettes and shifting patterns of woven lace. The color palette reflects Clara’s favorite season - autumn - expressed through opalescent tones of warm amethyst, smoldering orange, deep oceanic turquoise, and rich moss green. Filigrana, a traditional glassmaking technique dating back to the 16th century, involves layering, intertwining, and fusing long rods of glass before wrapping them around a cylinder, blowing, and shaping entirely by hand. Our designs blend several filigrana styles - mezza filigrana, reticello, and zanfirico - to create a modern interpretation of timeless Venetian artistry.
