50's Brass Ashtray with Enameled Patterns

In the 1950s, many tableware and smoking accessories adopted a more graphic decorative vocabulary, blending decorative craftsmanship and domestic modernism. This brass ashtray with enameled motifs is a good example, with its geometric brown and ivory decoration that structures the form without making it heavy. Probably European work from the 1950s, this model combines a brass base with an enameled decoration applied in reserves, with four integrated cigarette rests. The whole presents a very balanced composition, halfway between a utilitarian object and a decorative table piece. The condition is good and consistent with the era.
