This piece is part of the RELIEFS collection by sculptor & designer Franck Scala, a series of ceramic bas-reliefs. Through this collection, the artist invites us on a journey, reinterpreting the reliefs of some of the world's most iconic natural landscapes. Fascinated by the impact of time and the elements on matter—particularly the erosion of rock—he pays tribute to these natural phenomena by representing them graphically.

For the composition of the RELIEFS wall sculptures, the artist delved into his many travel memories. To create Death Valley, Franck Scala revisited his experiences traveling along the West Coast of the United States, paying homage to Death Valley, one of the hottest places on Earth, where life is almost impossible.
