Sundance Studio, led by Flinders-based weaver Emma Shepherd, reimagines the art of weaving through a harmonious connection with nature. Combining traditional craft with an artistic sensibility, Emma draws inspiration from the landscapes of her hometown—lush green foliage, dark tree trunks, sandy neutrals, and rugged rock formations. Her work reflects the timelessness of fiber arts, one of humanity’s earliest technologies, while embracing a modern perspective shaped by Bauhaus textiles.

Sourcing yarns from around the globe and integrating natural materials like pine needles, horsehair, and bark, Emma creates pieces that are as organic as they are deliberate. Each woven work is a tactile expression of her environment, bringing natural tones and textures into contemporary spaces.
