{"product_id":"italian-wood-and-silver-lidded-box-1950s","title":"Italian Wood and Silver-lidded Box, 1950s","description":"Italy, 1950s. Postwar Italian silversmithing favoured restrained desk objects in which precious wood converses with silver. This cigarette box is a very understated example. The body, in burl veneer with wavy honey-coloured grain, is topped by a silver lid engine-turned with fine parallel lines, edged with a plain band. The metal bears the “800” hallmark and a second maker’s mark, a mark of authenticity. A small almond-shaped silver handle serves as the grip, and a brass hinge holds it closed. Inside, light wood and a removable tray divide the space. Good condition of use: the wood shows a warm patina with small marks of age, the silver has taken on a light natural oxidation, the hinge and interior are sound. A piece that has lived well and presents very well. At 17 cm long by 10 cm wide and 5 cm high, it sits on a desk or side table and holds cigarettes, cards or small objects. A sober, precious case, typical of Italian refinement in the fifties.","brand":"Treaptyque","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":67639277191558,"sku":null,"price":459.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0671\/5290\/4457\/files\/fn2euh9dudev3qbsbycw.jpg?v=1792256110","url":"https:\/\/oblist.com\/products\/italian-wood-and-silver-lidded-box-1950s","provider":"The Oblist","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
